Form NA8 is the foreigner's own application for a temporary residence card in Vietnam. The new version was issued with Circular 70/2026/TT-BCA and applies from 1 July 2026. It is submitted together with letter NA6 (company sponsor) or application NA7 (family sponsor).

Which language to fill in: This is the official bilingual Vietnamese–English form. Fill it in in English or Vietnamese, in CAPITAL LETTERS, with names exactly as in the passport. Do not translate the form into another language – only the official form is accepted.

Supporting documents and where to submit
- One form per person, with the passport and the sponsor's letter/application.
- Two 2×3 cm photos, white background (one glued, one loose).
- Proof of the reason (work permit, investment certificate, marriage certificate…).
- Submit in person at the immigration authority; NG3 cases at the competent authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Common mistakes that get applications returned
- Using 4×6 photos instead of 2×3 cm.
- Requesting a card longer than the passport or work permit validity.
- Temporary address not declared to the police.
