Consular services for Korean citizens

Da Nang is one of Koreans’ favourite destinations, so much of the work here concerns travellers in trouble:

  • Emergency passports for citizens whose passport was lost or damaged – sometimes ready within minutes of processing.
  • Protection of nationals: road accidents, hospitalisation, theft, disputes, detention.
  • Document and family-registration matters for Koreans living in central Vietnam – see the website for details.
  • Certain Korean visa applications under current rules.

Before you go

  • The morning session ends at 11:30 – arrive late and you wait for the afternoon.
  • The Google Maps pin has no street number; call +84 236 3566 100 for directions to the building entrance.
  • Bring your passport (if you still have it), the police loss report, ID photos and your planned flight details.
  • An emergency passport does not by itself let you fly: you still need Vietnamese exit procedures (see below).
  • Closed on Vietnamese and Korean public holidays.

Common situations foreigners face

Passport lost on holiday in Da Nang or Hoi An. The most frequent case. Steps: (1) report the loss to the ward police and get a confirmation; (2) obtain an emergency passport from the Consulate General; (3) get a visa/exit permission from the Da Nang Immigration Office because your visa or entry stamp was in the old passport. Step 3 is where travellers most often get stuck, due to document and sponsor requirements; Info Travel can guide you or handle the exit procedures so you make your flight.

Passport expiring while resident. Koreans working or running businesses in Da Nang and Quang Nam must transfer their visa or reissue their temporary residence card after getting a new passport.

Staying longer than planned. If you are hospitalised or waiting for papers, you may need a visa extension to avoid overstaying.

Marriage, birth registration, work permits – Korean documents need an apostille and a notarised Vietnamese translation.

Korean passport help in Vietnam

The Da Nang Consulate General issues emergency passports to Korean citizens; the applicant must attend in person. For regular passports, ask the Consulate General whether you can apply in Da Nang or must go to the Embassy or the HCMC office.

Info Travel helps with photos, paperwork and translations, and afterwards completes the Vietnamese side: exit visa, visa transfer, TRC. We assist only within what the Korean authorities allow and do not influence their decisions.

Apostille, consular legalisation and notarised translation

Korea is party to the Apostille Convention, which entered into force for Vietnam on 11 September 2026; Korea did not object.

a) Korean documents for Vietnam: apostille in Korea, then a notarised translation. Where an authority specifically asks, the apostille vs consular legalisation chain via the Vietnamese mission in Korea remains available, unless a treaty exempts the document.

b) Vietnamese documents for Korea: apostille from the Consular Department (Hanoi) or the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs, with translation as required; legalisation at a Korean mission is only a fallback.

Clients in Da Nang can send documents to Info Travel for translation, notarisation and apostille without travelling to Hanoi or HCMC. See our consular legalisation service; prices on WhatsApp.
