Vietnam Visa for Pakistani Citizens 2026: E-Visa Guide

Vietnam visa for Pakistani citizens in 2026: Pakistan is not on Vietnam’s visa exemption list, so holders of ordinary Pakistani passports need a visa before travelling. The simplest route is the Vietnam e-visa, valid for up to 90 days with a single entry (USD 25) or multiple entries (USD 50). Business, work and family trips can also use a visa issued on a sponsor’s approval letter. Info Travel checks your file, applies for e-visas and approval letters and supports long-stay cases. Do Pakistani citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

Yes. The unilateral exemptions under Resolutions 44/NQ-CP and 229/NQ-CP of 2025 cover a set group of European and Asian countries, and Pakistan is not one of them. The Vietnam visa exemption list shows no exemption for ordinary Pakistani passports either, so a Vietnam visit visa from Pakistan must be arranged before you fly. Your options:

Vietnam e-visa for Pakistani citizens: step by step

Since August 2023 the e-visa has been open to all nationalities, with a maximum validity of 90 days. You apply on the official portal evisa.gov.vn, or use our Vietnam e-visa service for a document check before submission.

  1. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months from entry and has two blank pages.
  2. Prepare a recent portrait photo (straight face, plain light background, no glasses; headwear only for religious reasons, face fully visible) and a clear scan of the bio page with both MRZ lines.
  3. Type your name exactly as in the passport, in the same order. Give a real first address in Vietnam (hotel or host).
  4. Choose the entry and exit gates you will really use. There are currently 83 airports, land gates and seaports accepting e-visas under Resolutions 127/NQ-CP and 389/NQ-CP.
  5. Pay the state fee online and keep the registration code.
  6. Processing is usually 3–5 working days, but can take longer. Print the approved e-visa and check every field.

Our e-visa application guide walks through each screen.

When more documents or a sponsor help

Vietnamese law publishes no list of “difficult” nationalities, and every application is assessed individually. In practice, applications from some nationalities may be asked for more documents or take longer to review. To reduce the risk of delay or refusal:

  • keep the purpose consistent: a tourist e-visa is for tourism, not for meetings or work;
  • have a hotel booking and a return or onward ticket ready, as the airline may ask for them;
  • for business or family visits, a sponsor’s approval letter often helps, because a Vietnamese company or relative stands behind the trip.

See Vietnam visa consulting for difficult nationalities for how we prepare such files.

Visa on arrival, Phu Quoc and urgent cases

Visa on arrival is not a walk-up visa: you need an approval letter issued before departure and must land at the airport named in it. Read Vietnam visa approval letter for the procedure. Visitors arriving at Phu Quoc from abroad may stay up to 30 days on the island under current rules; going on to the mainland requires a visa. Check with your airline before booking that route.

Working, studying or living long-term

  • Work: a work permit (or exemption confirmation) under Decree 219/2025/ND-CP, an LĐ visa and, for longer stays, a residence card. Degrees and police certificates from Pakistan must be legalised and translated. See our work permit service.
  • Family: spouses and children of Vietnamese citizens use a TT visa and residence card.
  • Business: a DN visa requires a Vietnamese company as sponsor.
  • Investors: ĐT visas and residence cards depend on the capital invested.

Extensions and overstay

An e-visa cannot be extended without a qualified sponsor; each extension costs USD 10 in state fees. Overstay fines under Article 21 of Decree 282/2025/ND-CP start at VND 0.5–2 million for under 16 days and increase with length. If you have overstayed, read Vietnam visa overstay fines and contact us before going to the airport.

Embassy of Pakistan in Vietnam

Pakistani citizens in Vietnam can contact the Embassy of Pakistan in Hanoi for passport and consular matters. It does not issue Vietnamese visas. Visa stickers on an approval letter are collected at the Embassy of Vietnam in Islamabad or another designated mission, or at the airport if the letter allows it.

FAQ

How long does the Vietnam e-visa for Pakistani citizens take?

Usually 3–5 working days, sometimes longer if extra review is needed. Apply at least two weeks before travel.

Can I get a Vietnam visa in Pakistan at the embassy?

Yes, a visa can be stamped at the Embassy of Vietnam in Islamabad, but for most visa types a sponsor’s approval letter is needed first. For tourism, the e-visa is usually easier.

My e-visa was refused. What now?

The portal does not always state a reason. Check name, photo, purpose and address, then consider a sponsored approval letter. We can review the file before you reapply.

Can I work in Vietnam on an e-visa?

No. Work requires a work permit and an LĐ visa or residence card sponsored by the employer.
