Consular services for Turkish citizens

The Embassy’s website blocks automated access, so we could not check its detailed service list. In general the consular section is the point of contact for Turkish citizens for:

  • travel documents when a passport is lost or has expired;
  • registering civil events in Vietnam (births, marriages) in the Turkish civil registry;
  • powers of attorney, signature certification and certificates for use in Türkiye;
  • help for nationals in distress, under arrest or needing to reach family.

Turkish citizens usually book consular appointments through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ online system; ask the Embassy for instructions specific to your case.

Before you go

  • The Embassy is on an upper floor of an office tower: check in at building reception with ID, then go up to floor 14.
  • Vietnamese applicants for Turkish visas should apply early: applicants report decisions sometimes arriving weeks after the estimated date. Avoid non-refundable flights until the visa is issued.
  • Some callers find phone enquiries difficult and answers brief; prepare precise questions, read the website guidance and follow up by email to get answers in writing.
  • Residents of southern Vietnam should confirm the required documents before travelling, to avoid two trips to Hanoi.
  • Closed on Vietnamese and Turkish public holidays, including religious holidays that follow the lunar calendar.

Why foreigners usually contact the Embassy

Lost passport. Report it to the police where it happened and ask the Embassy for a new passport or travel document. You then need a new Vietnamese visa or exit procedures, since the old visa was lost with the passport.

Passport expiring while working in Vietnam. Once you have the new passport, transfer your work visa or temporary residence card; the work permit must also be updated with the new passport number. Tourists can apply for a visa extension or use the Vietnam e-visa.

Marriage, births and work. Turks marrying Vietnamese citizens need proof of marital status; children born in Vietnam should be registered with the Embassy. Degrees and police certificates for work permits need an apostille and a notarised translation.

Getting a Turkish passport while in Vietnam

We could not verify whether the Embassy in Hanoi accepts ordinary passport applications locally. Call +84 24 3822 2460 to ask; if it does not, citizens can apply when back in Türkiye or request an emergency travel document.

Info Travel helps within what the Embassy allows: photos, translations of Vietnamese supporting documents and file guidance. Once you have the new passport we transfer your visa or residence card, obtain a new visa or arrange exit procedures. Applicants normally attend in person for biometrics.

Consular legalisation, MOFA/DOFA certification and notarised translation

Türkiye has been a party to the Apostille Convention since 1985 and did not object to Vietnam’s accession, which took effect for Vietnam on 11 September 2026. Apostille is therefore the main route, with consular legalisation as a fallback. See apostille vs consular legalisation.

a) Turkish documents for use in Vietnam: obtain an apostille from the competent Turkish authority (typically the governorship/district governorship or a court, depending on the document), then a notarised translation into Vietnamese. If a receiving office still requires legalisation: certification in Türkiye and legalisation at the Vietnamese Embassy in Ankara – unless an international treaty exempts the document.

b) Vietnamese documents for use in Türkiye: apostille from the Consular Department (Hanoi) or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, translated into Turkish or English as required.

Info Travel handles the full chain – translation, notarisation, apostille or consular certification, submission and collection. See our consular legalisation service; quotes on WhatsApp +84327828822.

Vietnamese visas for Turkish citizens

Turkish citizens come to Vietnam for tourism, business trips, employment or to run their own businesses. Common options:

  • The Vietnam e-visa for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry – suitable for tourism and market visits.
  • A business (DN) or work (LĐ) visa sponsored by a Vietnamese company; long-term staff should get a temporary residence card rather than repeatedly leaving or extending.
  • Investors who contribute capital can apply for an investor (ĐT) visa and residence card depending on the amount invested.

Info Travel offers a complete service: sponsorship files, visa extension, accompanying work permits, legalisation of Turkish degrees and translations.
