Consular services for Kazakh citizens
We could not read the detailed service list on the official page (the gov.kz site loads only with JavaScript). Embassy consular sections typically deal with the following – ask the Embassy of Kazakhstan which of them are handled in Hanoi:
- Travel documents when a passport is lost (return certificate).
- Passport and identity-document applications.
- Consular registration of citizens abroad, civil status (births, marriages).
- Certification and notarisation of documents and signatures.
- Protection of citizens in emergencies.
As one embassy covers three Indochinese countries, reception slots may be limited – get in touch early.
Before you visit
- Call ahead to book on +84 24 3718 0777 or check the embassy page on gov.kz; the day is split into two shifts with a break from 13:00 to 15:00.
- Bring your passport (or a copy plus the police report if it was lost) and relevant originals.
- Holidays: embassies usually close on both Vietnamese and home-country public holidays.
- New administrative map: Hanoi abolished districts in July 2025; navigate by street and house number.
- Be on time: it is a small embassy with few staff; if you might be late (for example while waiting for a fee transfer), call to let them know.
- Kazakh visas for foreigners: with an urgent flight the embassy has sometimes processed applications very fast, but do not count on it – applying early is safer.
- Bring originals and copies for citizens’ procedures, and ask about fees and how to pay them when you book.
What foreigners most often need when they contact the Embassy of Kazakhstan
Most Kazakhstan nationals get in touch with their mission for one of the reasons below. Each one also has a Vietnamese-side step with the immigration authorities – that is the part Info Travel handles directly.
- Lost or stolen passport: report the loss to the local police and get a written confirmation; take it to the Embassy of Kazakhstan for an emergency travel document or a new passport; then, because your visa or entry stamp was in the old passport, apply for a new visa or complete the exit procedures for foreigners before leaving Vietnam.
- Passport about to expire: get a new passport, then transfer your valid visa or temporary residence card to it. If your permitted stay is also ending, a visa extension can be arranged at the same time.
- Marriage, birth registration or a work permit in Vietnam: certificates of marital status, birth certificates and criminal records usually need an apostille (or legalisation where the apostille does not apply) and a notarised Vietnamese translation.
- Signature certification: for powers of attorney, property or bank matters back in Kazakhstan.
- Voting and registration as a citizen living abroad.
Help with Kazakh passports in Vietnam
We could not verify whether the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Hanoi issues or renews passports locally. If it does not, citizens generally apply at home or through another mission; after a loss the usual solution is a return travel document.
On the Vietnamese side, Info Travel handles the police loss report, a new visa or exit visa, transferring your visa or temporary residence card to a new passport and a visa extension while you wait. We can also prepare photos and translations and help you contact the embassy – within what the embassy allows; personal attendance remains the applicant’s.
Consular legalisation, consular certification (Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamp) and notarised translation
Since the Apostille Convention entered into force for Vietnam on 11 September 2026, documents between Kazakhstan and Vietnam follow a simpler route: Kazakhstan has been a party since 2001 and did not object to Vietnam’s accession.
- Kazakh documents for use in Vietnam: obtain an apostille from the competent Kazakh authority (it depends on the document: civil registry, justice, education…), then get a notarised Vietnamese translation – no legalisation by a Vietnamese mission is needed.
- Vietnamese documents for use in Kazakhstan: obtain an apostille from the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Hanoi) or the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs, then translate into Kazakh or Russian as the receiving office requires.
- Where the apostille does not apply (documents drawn up by the Embassy of Kazakhstan itself, some commercial or customs papers) or the receiving office still insists: use the certification and legalisation chain as before (certification at the embassy if offered, then legalisation at the Consular Department/HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs), unless a treaty provides an exemption.
Info Travel handles the whole chain: translation, notarisation, the Ministry/Department of Foreign Affairs stamp, and submitting and collecting files at the mission – see consular legalisation in Vietnam. Costs depend on the document type and page count; message us on WhatsApp +84327828822 for a quote.
