- Consular registration for Armenians living in Vietnam.
- Citizenship matters and special residency status.
- Criminal record certificates.
- Notarial acts: certifying contracts, wills and powers of attorney (except sale or mortgage of real estate in Armenia); certifying copies, signatures and accuracy of translations; certifying that a person is alive or present in a given place.
- Consular legalisation of documents issued by competent authorities in its consular district. Apostille and diploma certification are done by the Consular Department of the MFA in Yerevan.
What to know before you visit
- No online booking system is published – phone or email to arrange a time before going.
- Adult passport applications are lodged in person; for children, a parent or legal representative must attend.
- Bring four 35×45 mm colour photos taken within six months and your old passport with copies of pages 2–5; men aged 18–55 need their military document.
- Consular fees are paid through Armenia’s online e-payments portal – bring the receipt.
- Closed on Vietnamese and Armenian holidays (such as Independence Day, 21 September).
- The embassy is in a villa area off Vuon Dao lane (Tay Ho); Google Maps pins 73 D5C Vuon Dao correctly. The access road is narrow, so take a taxi and call before arriving.
- Google Maps shows no opening hours or phone number – use +84 24 3758 5228 as published on the embassy website.
What foreigners usually need help with at the embassy
Most Armenian citizens contact the embassy not for diplomacy but because of a specific paperwork problem. These are the situations we see most often:
- Lost or stolen passport: report it to the local ward police to get a confirmation, then apply at the embassy for a new passport or emergency travel document. Because your Vietnamese visa or residence card was in the old passport, you must also obtain a new visa or exit visa from the Immigration Department before leaving Vietnam.
- Passport about to expire: get the new passport, then transfer your visa or temporary residence card to it; if the visa is also running out, combine this with a visa extension.
- Marriage, a child’s birth registration, a work permit: Vietnamese authorities usually ask for a certificate of marital status, birth certificate, police certificate or degrees from Armenia, apostilled (or legalised if outside the Convention) and with a notarised translation.
- Signature certification: powers of attorney, declarations and contracts that need a certified signature before being sent home.
- Citizen registration and voting: many countries encourage citizens abroad to register with their mission for updates and emergency support.
Help with Armenian passports in Vietnam
The Armenian embassy in Hanoi accepts adult renewals, children’s passports, replacements for lost passports and first passports for new citizens. Adults lodge in person; children’s applications are lodged in person by a parent or legal representative.
Info Travel supports the whole process around the mission’s own part: booking the appointment, completing forms, compliant photos, translating Vietnamese documents you need to attach, and guiding or accompanying you. Once the new passport arrives, we transfer your visa or temporary residence card to it and handle any exit or extension procedures.
Note: applicants normally attend in person for biometrics and signature; Info Travel only assists within what the Armenia mission permits and does not apply or decide on your behalf.
Consular legalisation, consular certification (MOFA / Department of Foreign Affairs stamp) and notarised translation
The Apostille Convention has applied to Vietnam since 11 September 2026, and Armenia is also a party. Public documents between the two countries therefore now use an apostille instead of the longer consular legalisation chain. The difference is explained in apostille vs consular legalisation.
a) Documents issued in Armenia for use in Vietnam
Public documents such as birth and marriage certificates, police certificates and degrees receive an apostille from the competent authority in Armenia and then a notarised Vietnamese translation (originals are usually in Armenian or Russian). No further legalisation by a Vietnamese mission is needed.
Fallback – consular legalisation: documents executed by diplomatic or consular agents (for example papers issued by the Armenian embassy in Hanoi itself) and administrative documents dealing directly with commercial or customs operations fall outside the Apostille Convention. They still need certification and legalisation at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Hanoi) or the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs, or legalisation by the Vietnamese mission in Armenia, unless an international treaty provides an exemption.
b) Vietnamese documents for use in Armenia
Vietnamese public documents are apostilled by the Consular Department (MOFA) in Hanoi or the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs and then translated into a language accepted in Armenia; legalisation at the Armenian embassy is no longer required. Check translation requirements with the receiving authority in Armenia first.
The Armenian embassy still certifies the accuracy of translations and can legalise documents that fall outside the Apostille Convention, confirming the signature and the signer’s authority.
Info Travel runs the whole chain: translation, notarisation, the MOFA/Department of Foreign Affairs stamp, and submission and collection at the mission. See our consular legalisation service. Quotes per file on WhatsApp +84327828822.
Frequently asked questions
Can I renew my Armenian passport in Hanoi?
Yes. The embassy’s website lists adult renewals, children’s passports, replacement of lost passports and first passports for new citizens.
Where do I get an apostille on Armenian documents?
Apostille and diploma certification are done by the MFA Consular Department in Yerevan, not by the embassy in Hanoi. Since Vietnam and Armenia are both Apostille parties, an apostilled document can be used in Vietnam after a notarised translation, with no consular legalisation.
What are the embassy’s opening hours?
Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00. No separate consular hours are published, so arrange a time in advance.
What if my Armenian passport is lost in Vietnam?
Report it to the police, apply for a replacement at the embassy with a signed statement on the loss, then get a new visa or exit visa from Vietnamese immigration.
