Vietnam Pre-Arrival Declaration and NA1 Form 2026

In 2026, foreigners flying into Vietnam are advised to complete an online pre-arrival declaration on the Immigration Department’s system. If you collect a visa on arrival with an approval letter, you also fill in the NA1 form. This guide explains both forms, who needs them and how to complete them.

1. Vietnam pre-arrival declaration (online)

  • Official website: prearrival.immigration.gov.vn.
  • Airports: Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Da Nang, Cam Ranh (Nha Trang), Phu Quoc.
  • When: within 3 days (72 hours) before arrival, or on arrival.
  • Information: passport details, visa, flight number, address in Vietnam.
  • Fee: free.
  • Result: a QR code. Save it on your phone or print it to show at immigration.

The authorities strongly recommend declaring in advance to speed up border checks. The declaration does not replace a visa: if your nationality needs a visa, you still need an e-visa or another visa before flying.

Only use the official Immigration Department website. Several look-alike websites charge money for this free declaration.

2. NA1 form for visa on arrival

If you enter with an approval letter and collect your visa at the airport, you need:

  • The completed and signed NA1 visa application form.
  • 1 photo, 4×6 cm, white background, no glasses.
  • Original passport and a printed approval letter.
  • Stamping fee in cash: USD 25 (single entry) or USD 50 (multiple entry, up to 3 months).

Hand them in at the Landing Visa counter before immigration control.

Who does not need the NA1 form?

  • E-visa holders.
  • Visa-exempt nationalities.
  • Holders of a valid temporary or permanent residence card, or a 5-year visa exemption certificate.

Arrival steps at the airport

  1. Step 1: declare on prearrival.immigration.gov.vn and save the QR code.
  2. Step 2: for a visa on arrival, go to the Landing Visa counter with the NA1 form, photo, approval letter and fee.
  3. Step 3: at immigration control, show your passport, visa and QR code.

FAQ

Will I be refused entry if I don’t declare in advance?

It is currently a recommendation to speed things up. Without it you may have to declare on the spot or wait longer at the airport, so it is best to declare before you fly.

Do I need to declare when entering by land?

The system is used at the main international airports. At land border gates, follow the officers’ instructions.
