Replacing a Lost, Damaged or Passport-Changed Residence Card

This page covers reissue of an existing card. To have us handle the file, see the residence card service.

Three cases

Case Extra documents Note
Lost card Written report of loss; police confirmation where available No fine if reported promptly
Damaged or illegible card The old card Processing as for a new card
New passport issued Old and new passports Mandatory — the card must follow the valid passport

Standard documents

  • Form NA6 or NA7 from the sponsor, form NA8 from the holder
  • Original passport, plus the old one in a passport-change case
  • Enterprise registration certificate and form NA16 for company sponsors
  • Current temporary residence declaration

Validity of the replacement

The new card keeps the remaining validity of the original — it does not restart. If only a few months remain, consider filing a full renewal instead and paying once.

Timing

6–15 working days, same as a new card. Report a loss quickly: travelling or dealing with police checks without a valid residence document creates avoidable problems.
