Vietnam E-visa Status Check and Common Rejection Reasons
To check your Vietnam e-visa status, go to the “Search” (Tra cứu) section of the official site thithucdientu.gov.vn and enter your registration code together with the details you applied with (email, date of birth). By law, an e-visa is processed within 3 working days after the complete application and fee are received. Once approved, download and print it. If it is refused, you normally need to submit a new application and pay a new fee.

How to check in 4 steps
- Go to thithucdientu.gov.vn (the official e-visa site since 11 November 2024, replacing evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn).
- Open Search (Tra cứu).
- Enter your registration code and the email and date of birth you used.
- If approved, download and print your e-visa in colour.
How long does it take?
3 working days after the complete application and fee are received (Article 16a, Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners). Weekends and public holidays are not counted; peak seasons can be slower, so apply 1–2 weeks ahead. In a hurry? See urgent Vietnam visa.
Why e-visas are rejected or delayed
- Blurry portrait, non-white background, glasses, or not facing forward.
- Passport scan cropped, glared or with an unreadable MRZ line.
- Name, passport number or date of birth not matching the passport.
- Passport valid for less than 6 months.
- Previous overstay or residence violation in Vietnam.
- Duplicate applications for the same person.
- Missing or unverifiable information.
Rejected or wrong details: what to do
- A submitted e-visa usually cannot be edited; apply again with correct details and a new fee.
- The fee (25 USD single, 50 USD multiple) is generally not refunded.
- If your flight is close, switch to an urgent visa on arrival approval letter.
