For foreigners
Qatari citizens and foreign residents of Qatar can contact the embassy about visas and document legalisation. Most tourists and short-term business travellers now apply online for an e-visa at evisa.gov.vn (up to 90 days, single or multiple entry) without visiting the embassy. Visas stamped at the mission are mainly for diplomatic or official passports, or for travellers who already hold an entry approval sponsored by an organisation or company in Vietnam.
Do Qatari citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
Qatar is not on the Vietnam visa exemption list, so Qatari ordinary passport holders need a visa. The simplest option is an e-visa of up to 90 days, single or multiple entry (government fee USD 25 or USD 50). Expats living in Qatar follow the rules for their own nationality – see Vietnam visa by nationality.
Legalising documents from Qatar for use in Vietnam
Expats who worked in Qatar and move to Vietnam often need a Qatari police clearance certificate, or marriage and birth certificates registered in Qatar.
Qatar is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so documents issued there generally need consular legalisation before use in Vietnam:
- Certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or other competent authority) of Qatar.
- Consular legalisation at the Embassy of Vietnam in Doha.
- Vietnamese translation, notarised in Vietnam, before submission.
If a document has already been brought to Vietnam without legalisation, ask the receiving authority how to proceed – there is no lawful shortcut around this step.
Info Travel handles consular legalisation and notarised translation in Vietnam and can then take care of your Vietnam work permit once the documents are in order.
How Info Travel helps travellers from Qatar

FAQ
What are the embassy’s opening hours?
The MOFA portal does not publish this mission’s opening hours. Check the “Lịch làm việc” (working schedule) section of the official website or call ahead, especially around local and Vietnamese public holidays. Note that the weekend in Qatar is generally Friday and Saturday.
Do I need an appointment?
The MOFA portal does not mention appointments. Call one of the three numbers or email in advance for guidance on your documents.
I live in Qatar – embassy visa or e-visa?
Most travellers choose the e-visa since it is online and the result arrives by email. An embassy visa is usually only needed for diplomatic or official passports, or when an approval letter designates Doha as the pick-up point.
