The Embassy of Peru in Hanoi occupies the 14th floor of the CornerStone Building, 16 Phan Chu Trinh Street, phone +84 24 3936 3082, and is open Monday to Friday, about 08:30–17:30 (Google Maps). Peru has no consulate general in Vietnam, so the embassy’s consular section serves Peruvian citizens nationwide and also handles Peruvian visas for Vietnamese travellers. Info Travel helps Peruvian nationals in Vietnam with visas, temporary residence cards, exit procedures, apostille/legalisation and certified translations – WhatsApp +84327828822.

Consular services for Peruvian citizens
We could not open the service pages on gob.pe to confirm the exact list. As a rule, Peru’s consular sections abroad are where citizens go to:
- report a lost passport and get a document to return to Peru;
- ask about passport and DNI identity card procedures;
- register births and marriages that took place abroad;
- certify signatures and powers of attorney for use in Peru;
- get assistance after an accident, illness or detention.
Confirm with the embassy which of these can be completed in Hanoi and which are forwarded to Lima.
What to know before you visit
- The consular team is very small – visitors describe one Vietnamese staff member handling paperwork and one Peruvian officer doing interviews and approvals. Email or call to book a slot instead of walking in.
- Reviewers praise the team’s flexibility with urgent cases, such as visas ready in time for a same-day flight, but treat that as goodwill, not a guarantee: state your travel dates up front.
- Peruvian visa applications may include an interview; bring originals of everything you submitted.
- CornerStone is an office tower with a reception desk – carry your passport or ID to register before going up to the 14th floor.
- The embassy closes on Vietnamese public holidays and Peruvian national days (e.g. Fiestas Patrias, 28–29 July).
What foreigners typically need help with
Lost Peruvian passport. File a report at the local ward police, then contact the embassy. Once you hold a new document, apply for a new visa or complete exit procedures with Vietnam Immigration, because your visa was lost with the old passport.
Passport expiring. After renewal, a long-term visa or temporary residence card must be transferred to the new passport. Tourists can arrange a visa extension or a new Vietnam e-visa.
Marriage, birth, work permits. Peruvians marrying in Vietnam need proof of marital status; teachers and engineers applying for a work permit need apostilled degrees and police certificates with a notarised translation. Children born in Vietnam should be entered in Peru’s civil register so they can later obtain a passport.
Elections. Peruvians abroad can vote according to the electoral authority’s announcements – watch for embassy notices before each election.
Help with Peruvian passports in Vietnam
We could not verify whether the Embassy of Peru in Hanoi enrols biometrics for electronic passports on site. If it does not, citizens may need to apply in Peru or at another Peruvian consular post in the region; in emergencies an embassy can normally issue a travel document home. Call for instructions before booking flights.
Info Travel takes care of the Vietnamese procedures: keeping your stay legal while you wait (extension or new visa), transferring your visa or residence card to the new passport, exit procedures if you leave on a travel document, and translating and certifying documents. You attend in person whenever the Peruvian side requires; we assist only within what the embassy permits.
Consular legalisation, MOFA/DOFA certification and certified translation
Peru joined the Apostille Convention in 2010; Vietnam acceded on 31 December 2025, with the Convention in force for Vietnam from 11 September 2026 (HCCH status table). Peru did not object, so the apostille is now the main route and consular legalisation only a fallback. See apostille vs consular legalisation.
a) Peruvian documents for use in Vietnam: apostille from Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or designated authority), then a notarised Vietnamese translation in Vietnam. Fallback: legalisation at the Vietnamese embassy in Lima, or certification by the Peruvian embassy in Hanoi (if offered) followed by legalisation at the Consular Department (MOFA) or the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs – unless exempted under an international treaty.
b) Vietnamese documents for use in Peru: apostille at the Consular Department in Hanoi or the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs, plus a Spanish translation where Peruvian authorities require one (official translations are commonly requested).
Info Travel covers the whole chain: translation, notarisation, apostille or MOFA stamp, and embassy submission/collection when needed. See our consular legalisation service; quotes on WhatsApp.
