Consular services for Ukrainian citizens
The Embassy’s official website could not be reached when we checked, so the list below is general – confirm details with the Embassy:
- travel certificates to return to Ukraine when a passport is lost or expired;
- guidance on international passports and civil registration (births and marriages in Vietnam);
- certification of powers of attorney, signatures and copies for use in Ukraine;
- consular registration of residents in Vietnam and help after accidents, arrests or crimes.
Before you go
- Visitors report that the gate opens around 9:00 but the consul starts receiving at about 10:00 – arriving very early means waiting.
- The waiting room is small; if you come with family, only the applicant should go in.
- Per Google Maps the afternoon session is on Mondays only – call to confirm before travelling, especially from another province.
- Bring your passports (old and new), your Vietnamese visa or residence card, and original civil documents with translations if needed.
- Feedback describes staff as quick and clear; a complete file usually means one visit is enough.
- Closed on Vietnamese and Ukrainian public holidays.
Why foreigners usually contact the Embassy
Lost passport. Report it to the police where it happened, then contact the Embassy for a travel certificate or replacement instructions. Your Vietnamese visa or entry stamp was in the old passport, so you then need exit procedures or a new visa from Vietnam Immigration.
Long stays in Vietnam. If you are staying in Vietnam long term and your passport nears expiry, check renewal options in good time; once you have a new passport, transfer your visa or temporary residence card. The Vietnam e-visa or a visa extension may be options under current rules.
Marriage, births and work. Ukrainians marrying Vietnamese citizens need proof of marital status; Ukrainian degrees and police certificates used for work permits need an apostille and a notarised translation.
Getting a Ukrainian passport while in Vietnam
We could not verify whether the Embassy in Hanoi currently accepts international passport applications on site. Call +84 24 3734 4492 or email to ask; if it is not possible in Vietnam, citizens may be directed to another office or issued a travel certificate to return home.
Info Travel helps within what the Embassy allows: translations, photos and file guidance; once you hold a new passport or travel certificate we transfer your visa or residence card, obtain a new visa or arrange the exit visa. Any biometrics are done by the applicant in person.
Consular legalisation, MOFA/DOFA certification and notarised translation
Ukraine joined the Apostille Convention in 2003 and did not object to Vietnam’s accession (in force for Vietnam from 11 September 2026). Apostille is therefore the main route; consular legalisation is only for receiving offices that insist on it. See apostille vs consular legalisation.
a) Ukrainian documents for use in Vietnam: apostille from the competent Ukrainian authority (Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, depending on the document), then a notarised translation into Vietnamese. Fallback: certification in Ukraine and legalisation at the Vietnamese Embassy in Kyiv – unless an international treaty exempts the document.
b) Vietnamese documents for use in Ukraine: apostille from the Consular Department (MOFA, Hanoi) or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, with a Ukrainian translation.
Info Travel handles the whole chain – translation, notarisation, apostille or certification, submission and collection. See our consular legalisation service; quotes on WhatsApp +84327828822.
Vietnamese visas for Ukrainian citizens
Ukrainian citizens can apply online for the Vietnam e-visa, valid for up to 90 days with single or multiple entry. For longer stays, the usual routes are:
- a work visa with a work permit (teachers, developers, specialists), followed by a temporary residence card;
- a family visit (TT) visa and residence card for spouses and children of Vietnamese citizens;
- a business or investor visa for those setting up a company in Vietnam.
Info Travel advises on the route that fits your situation, prepares sponsorship files, handles a visa extension and translates Ukrainian documents.
