Consular services for UAE citizens

The Embassy’s page on the UAE MOFA portal lists Attestation as its main service for individuals. Other help for Emirati citizens (lost passports, emergencies, documents to return home) is handled through the Embassy and the MOFA Citizens Affairs line.

  • Attestation of Vietnamese-issued documents for use in the UAE: register and pay online on the MOFA system (“Attestation through UAE Missions Abroad”), receive a reference number, then visit the Embassy if the service is not fully electronic.
  • Help for Emirati citizens in trouble in Vietnam: accidents, lost documents, contacting family.
  • Visas: Vietnamese applicants describe the staff as friendly and the atmosphere as relaxed.

Before you go

  • Most services are now automated: apply and pay online first, then bring your documents – turning up without an application wastes a trip.
  • The afternoon window is very short (14:00–15:00 per MOFA); mornings are safer.
  • Transit rules: one visitor was told verbally that no transit visa was needed but was later refused boarding. Check transit requirements in writing with your airline and destination.
  • Quang An is a busy lakeside street with narrow lanes – a taxi or motorbike is easier than a large car.
  • Closed on Vietnamese and UAE holidays, including Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Why foreigners usually contact the Embassy

Lost passport. Report it to the police and contact the Embassy for a document to travel home. Then complete exit procedures or get a new visa, as your Vietnamese visa was in the lost passport.

Passport expiring in Vietnam. Once you have the new passport, transfer your visa or temporary residence card. Emiratis on long holidays can use the Vietnam e-visa or a visa extension.

Taking Vietnamese documents to the UAE. The most common reason people visit: Vietnamese workers heading to the UAE need degrees, police certificates, children’s birth certificates or marriage certificates certified in Vietnam and attested by the UAE Embassy, with a notarised translation or Arabic/English translation.

Getting a UAE passport while in Vietnam

The official page does not state that the Embassy in Hanoi issues or renews ordinary UAE passports. If it cannot, citizens usually renew through authorities at home or obtain an emergency document to return to the UAE – contact the Embassy or Citizens Affairs line for guidance.

Info Travel covers the Vietnamese side: once you have a new passport or emergency document, we transfer your visa or residence card, obtain a new visa or arrange the exit visa, and translate supporting documents. Applicants deal with the Embassy directly when required.

Consular legalisation, MOFA/DOFA certification and notarised translation

The UAE is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so documents between Vietnam and the UAE still follow the certification and legalisation (attestation) chain. See apostille vs consular legalisation.

a) UAE documents for use in Vietnam: attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then legalisation by the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate General in the UAE; in Vietnam, a notarised translation into Vietnamese. Unless an international treaty exempts the document.

b) Vietnamese documents for use in the UAE: (1) notarised translation where needed; (2) consular certification at the Consular Department (MOFA, Hanoi) or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs; (3) attestation by the UAE Embassy in Hanoi (registered and paid online via MOFA); (4) in the UAE, final attestation by the UAE MOFA as the receiving authority requires.

Info Travel handles the whole chain – translation, notarisation, MOFA/DOFA stamps, help with the online application and submission and collection at the UAE Embassy. See our consular legalisation service; quotes on WhatsApp +84327828822.

Vietnamese visas for UAE citizens

More Emirati visitors are coming to Vietnam thanks to direct flights from the UAE. UAE citizens can apply for the Vietnam e-visa for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry – suitable for holidays or investment visits. Investors and executives running a business in Vietnam can switch to a business or investor visa and a temporary residence card.

Info Travel helps Emirati travellers with e-visas, a visa extension, business visas, residence cards and the right visa category for accompanying staff or relatives, as Vietnamese law permits.
