Main consular services
For Vietnamese citizens in Morocco
- Passport issuance and renewal; travel documents after a lost passport.
- Civil status: birth registration for children born in Morocco, marriage registration, recording of civil-status events.
- Nationality matters (confirmation, renunciation or restoration of Vietnamese nationality).
- Certification of signatures and copies; legalisation of documents.
- Citizen protection in case of accidents, arrest, lost documents or other emergencies.
For foreigners
- Vietnamese visas: most tourists and business travellers now apply online for an e-visa; visas at the embassy are mainly for diplomatic or official passport holders or applicants who already have an approval letter from the Vietnam Immigration Department.
- Consular legalisation of documents issued in Morocco for use in Vietnam.
Do Moroccan citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
Yes. Morocco is not on the list of Vietnam visa-exempt countries for ordinary passports. The easiest option is an e-visa from the official portal evisa.gov.vn: valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, with a government fee of USD 25 (single) or USD 50 (multiple). Our step-by-step e-visa application guide explains the photo, passport and itinerary details you need.
For longer stays for work, investment or family visits, the company or sponsor in Vietnam first obtains a visa approval letter, and the visa is then issued at the embassy in Rabat or at an international border gate in Vietnam. Rules by country are summarised on our Vietnam visa by nationality page.
Legalising documents from Morocco for use in Vietnam
Moroccan nationals who work, marry or study in Vietnam are often asked for degrees, police certificates, birth certificates or proof of marital status. A Vietnam work permit application, for example, requires a recognised degree and criminal record certificate.
Morocco has been a party to the Apostille Convention since 2016, and the Convention entered into force for Vietnam on 11 September 2026. Moroccan public documents can therefore usually be used in Vietnam with an apostille instead of full consular legalisation:
- Obtain an apostille from the competent Moroccan authority.
- Have it translated into Vietnamese with a notarised translation in Vietnam.
- File it with the Vietnamese authority that asked for it.
In the other direction, Vietnamese documents for use in Morocco are apostilled by the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs. Because the rules are new, some offices may still ask for consular legalisation the old way (Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the Vietnamese embassy in Rabat) – confirm with the receiving authority first.

FAQ
What are the opening hours of the Embassy of Vietnam in Morocco?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal does not publish the embassy’s opening hours. Check the official website vnembassy-rabat.mofa.gov.vn or call ahead, keeping in mind public holidays in both Vietnam and Morocco.
Do I need an appointment?
It is best to contact the embassy first by phone or email to confirm the documents required and when applications are received, especially for passports, civil status or legalisation.
Should I apply for a visa at the embassy or online?
For tourism or short business trips of up to 90 days, an e-visa is the simplest choice because you do not need to visit the embassy. Applying at the embassy makes sense for diplomatic or official passports, or when you already hold an approval letter.
