Vietnam has an embassy in Ireland, located in the capital, Dublin. However, as of 19 October 2026 the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal does not publish its address, phone or email, so we do not list unverified details here. The embassy handles consular matters for Vietnamese citizens and document legalisation, while Irish citizens travelling to Vietnam usually apply for an e-visa online. On the Vietnam side, Info Travel helps with visas, approval letters, residence cards, legalisation and translation – WhatsApp +84327828822.

Main consular services
For Vietnamese citizens living, studying or working in Ireland:
- Issuing and renewing ordinary passports; travel documents for returning home after a passport is lost.
- Civil status: birth registration for children born abroad, marriage, death, recording civil-status events.
- Nationality matters: confirmation, renunciation or restoration of Vietnamese nationality.
- Consular certification and legalisation; attestation of signatures and copies.
- Citizen protection in case of accidents, arrest, lost documents or disasters.
For foreigners: most travellers now apply for an e-visa on the official portal evisa.gov.vn without visiting the embassy. Visas stamped at the mission are mainly for diplomatic or official passports, or for applicants holding an approval letter from the Vietnam Immigration Department that names the embassy in Dublin as the pick-up point.
Do Irish citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
Yes. Ireland is not on Vietnam’s visa exemption list, so Irish citizens need a visa. The usual route is the e-visa on evisa.gov.vn: valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, with a government fee of USD 25 (single) or USD 50 (multiple). See Vietnam visa for Irish citizens for documents and tips.
To compare with other passports, see the hub page Vietnam visa by nationality.
Legalising documents from Ireland for use in Vietnam
Degrees, criminal record certificates (needed for work permits), certificates of no impediment to marriage and birth certificates issued in Ireland must be authenticated before Vietnamese authorities accept them. Vietnam has joined the Apostille Convention (in force for Vietnam since 11 September 2026); according to the HCCH status table, Ireland is a party and is not listed as objecting. The usual route is therefore:
- Obtain an apostille from the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs.
- Have the document translated into Vietnamese and the translation notarised in Vietnam.
- Submit it to the receiving authority.
Consular legalisation through the Embassy of Vietnam in Dublin remains the fallback when the receiving authority asks for it or the document falls outside the apostille scope. Check with the receiving office first. In the other direction, Vietnamese documents for use in Ireland are apostilled by the Consular Department (Hanoi) or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs.
Info Travel handles consular legalisation, notarised translation and work permit files for Irish citizens working in Vietnam.
